Knowledge Reduces Fear
FRIDAY NIGHT INSIGHT Ketchikan Volunteer Hospice will screen the film Extremis, a 2016 award winning documentary that explores the end of life decisions patients and families make every day. Extremis follows doctors, families, and patients as they navigate the hard questions once medical intervention becomes ineffective. (24 minutes) Extremis will be followed by Barbara Karnes’ New Rules for End of Life Care, which provides an in-depth and informative look at the normal and natural labor of the dying process. Barbara Karnes gently describes what we all must face but are afraid to discuss. Knowing what the dying process looks like helps ease the fears that people have about a topic that is as natural as birth. (25 minutes) Experts and hospice volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and share stories. Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJiY8duVgz0
