|Measure: Percentage of patients who get better at walking or moving around|
Time Period Ending: 12/31/2012
What We Are Doing:
Peace Harbor's average length of time on home service is low for orthopedic patients , due to physician practice patterns of discharging to outpatient therapy within about 2 weeks. Therefore, while our patients do improve in most cases, they do not have time to graduate to not needing a cane for safety. Thus they are considered as not having improved, per the Medicare guidelines. Many agencies keep patients on service longer than Peace Harbor does, since they still qualify as homebound, thus allowing them more time to show improvement. 60 days is the length of time Medicare assigns to a home health episode.
