What We Are Doing:

Evidence-based practice has proved that by giving an antibiotic within 60-120 minutes of surgical incision time, it will reduce the risk of a surgical site infection. At PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center, we review the care of our patients who have had a wide variety of surgical procedures to make sure that we are giving them antibiotics when they are most effective for that patient. Our goal is to look at each patient's care and make changes when necessary, so that every PeaceHealth patient receives safe, evidence-based, compassionate care: every time, every touch.
